Morgan Bay Camping at Yellowwood Forest

Morgan Bay's eco-friendly forest campsite is suited to campers, rooftop tents, 4x4s, overland trucks and adventurous caravaners. It offers an unconventional camping experience for independent travelers, nature lovers and family holidays. Its a peaceful campsite situated just 1.5km from the beach and protected from prevailing coastal wind. Enormous trees and lush riverine vegetation make it a tranquil, bird watchers paradise!

The campsite has 30 stands, 12 of which have electrical points. Max. 6 persons per site and a maximum of 100 campers allowed in total.

There are a variety of shady sites to choose from, all with lush lawns and trees. Some sites receive full morning sun and welcome shade in the afternoon, while others are shady in the morning and sunny later on. Sites away from the entrance offer peace and quiet while sites closer to the playground and tea garden provide shelter under enormous forest trees.

Our beautiful campsite is best shared and enjoyed in season, when we are busiest. If its absolute peace and quiet you’re after then please come in the off season.

WE ARE A NO MUSIC VENUE (unless by prior consent for functions) homemade music is fine, but drummers will be beaten!

NB: Yellowwood Forest holds four very busy craft markets during the December holidays on the 16th, 23rd, 28th Dec and 3rd of Jan. (smaller markets every Saturday) Dec. market crowds and traders are focused from the campsite entrance to reception, the tea garden and play area - not in amongst the campsites. We encourage you to join in the spirit of things, however if you are intolerant of crowds and a festival atmosphere from 9-2pm, please don't book to coincide with these dates.

Ablutions: These are centrally situated, unisex, quirky, hobbit-like rock and thatch buildings with mud walls and glass details. They are labors of love, handcrafted from reclaimed and recycled materials. There are 4 hot water showers, 1 bath and 4 flushing loos. Despite being unconventional, they are well cared for and cleaned daily. The loos make use of septic tanks; don’t flush ANYTHING EXCEPT TOILET PAPER.

Water points: There are 4 fresh water taps to service all 30 sites. Water is a scarce resource, so take the few extra steps to stretch your legs, socialize or bird watch. Please use a bucket to wash your vehicle if absolutely necessary, but not the hose pipe.

Electricity: There are only 12 standard points and capacity is VERY limited. NB: lights and small camping fridge only. Appliances with elements (kettles, hotplates, hairdryers etc) will trip everything. There are no bright security lights in and around the campsite because you can see the stars better without! Please bring a torch. The ablutions are well lit and solar lamps are available if Eskom leaves us in the dark. Solar panels are your best bet here and noisy generators are not welcome.

Rubbish: Yellowwood Forest is GREEN and proud of it. Feel free to separate your waste into the bins provided. It makes the planet happy.

Parking: There is only space for one car per site. There are no specific allocated parking spots as the campsite is quite organic. Cars get to park near or next to your site. Please note that should you wish to give yourselves “play” space you might be required to park in the visitor parking area.

Dogs and Wildlife: Dogs are NOT allowed, unless by prior arrangement. We love nature, naturally, but please don’t feed the monkeys or leave food out. Also don’t bring doom foggers or zappers to dematerialize the bugs. Mozzies excluded.

Braai areas: These are small, simple stone circles cemented low in the ground. There are no built in braai grids but a few are available from reception. There is one large, circular, elevated braai site for communal use and it’s well lit.

Firewood: Bags of firewood are available to purchase. Please don’t collect wood from the forest.

Laundry Service: It may be handed in at reception to be washed and dried for you.

WiFi and DSTv: There is a WiFi hotspot here and vouchers can be purchased in the gift shop. Sport is shown on a big screen in the gift shop.

Restaurant and Bar: Open daily from 9am-5pm weekdays, 9am-6pm weekends and late during the holidays. Order from your bed - we deliver free! Traditional meals available on request and Mondays are Meat Free.
